CEWH: Violence Against Women and Girls

During the third week of October, the YWCA promotes global awareness and change through the Week Without Violence campaign. This campaign offers an opportunity to envision and advocate for the elimination of violence against women and girls (VAWG).
At the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health, we have been researching and thinking about this very issue. Our two recently released resources explore the main themes we learned from our search of the literature on approaches to the primary prevention of VAWG.
Research shows that VAWG is rooted in gender inequality and that the elimination of VAWG requires engagement from men and boys, a strengthening of the violence prevention sector, and gender transformative approaches.
