The world has never been more connected but, paradoxically, people have never been so lonely. There is an epidemic of social isolation created by shifting social mores – smaller families, a mobile workforce, fear of crime, etc.
Andre Picard shares how the growing scourge of loneliness is taking a tremendous toll on our health, both individually and collectively.
