Now Available! Challenging Structural Substance Use Stigma Workshop Package 

The Canadian Public Health Association’s Normalizing Conversations project is proud to be launching the Challenging Structural Substance Use Stigma Workshop Package”, developed in partnership with CAPSA, a national organization of professionals with lived and living expertise of substance use, leading the discussion on stigma and its effects.

Over the last 4 years, CPHA engaged communities across Canada to help define the key principles of a public health approach to substance use and build the knowledge and capacity of decision-makers, health and social service providers, public safety and communities to implement this approach. Stigma within the healthcare system, specifically structural stigma, was identified as a key barrier to address. 

How can I use the workshop package? 


This workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive learning opportunity for health and social service providers who work in the substance use health field. It will equip professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to:

The workshop includes word clouds, audio recordings, individual reflections, group discussions, videos and case scenarios. It can be delivered online or in person, in one 6-hour session or two 3-hour sessions and was designed for groups of 10 to 25 participants.
