SPEAKERS:
Rod DeVries has been the FASD Prevention Conversation Facilitator with the South East Alberta FASD Network.  His long-term involvement with the not-for-profit community and the disability sector have been very helpful in making the needed connections for his current work.  

Madelyne Porter has been the FASD Prevention Conversation Facilitator with the Calgary FASD Network since 2014.  Her previous experience as a researcher and a health professional informs her current work. 

Dr. Hélène Wirzba is a Credentialed Evaluator.  As a consultant, she has been responsible for several regional and provincial evaluations of FASD projects over the past five years.

All three have been part of FASD: The Prevention Conversation since its launch December, 2013. Collectively, this team has many years experience in raising awareness of FASD as a preventable disability. They believe in the power of conversation to make a difference in  reducing the risk of alcohol-exposed pregnancy.

The FASD Learning Series helps individuals, caregivers, front-line workers and professionals learn more about FASD, and how to support persons with FASD. The webcast and videoconference educational sessions cover a broad range of topics and are accessible to all Albertans. 

Alberta’s FASD 10-Year Strategic Plan outlines the government’s commitment to provide awareness and prevention of FASD, as well as assessment, diagnosis, and support for individuals with FASD and their caregivers. All services and activities are built on a foundation of stakeholder engagement.
